Environmental Laws in India

By implementing comprehensive environmental policies, governments strive to strike a balance between economic development and ecological sustainability.

Environmental policies encompass a wide range of measures aimed at protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices. The National Green Tribunal Act, 2010

This act set up the National Green Tribunal, or NGT. This new court deals with legal cases about the environment in India. The NGT can hear cases about enforcing environmental laws and environment-based rights

The Environment (Protection) Act 1986

The Environment (Protection) Act is enforced by the Central Pollution Control Board and numerous State Pollution Control Boards. National Green Tribunal has jurisdiction over all environmental cases dealing with substantial environmental question and water pollution.
